Getting Involved
Our program depends on volunteerism. There is no effort too small - we will always find a place for willing people to lend a hand. Obviously our biggest need is to gather Managers and Coaches that can commit to giving our youth a safe, fun and successful baseball season. Can’t commit to Coaching every game and practice, then lend a hand during practices so all kids stay active and leave with a smile. Or be a Team Parent who work along-side a coach to help with the other details of running a team – like arranging pictures or ordering Fisher Cat tickets. Can’t commit to practices, but you’ll be sure to be at every one of Junior’s games? Then lend a hand prepping the field for play, or stay 10 minutes late, grab a rake and prep the field for the next game. No one is ever going to stop you from field prep!
Our two concessions, at Bise Field and one at AmTech Field, also depend on parents willing to lend a hand for a game or two, or more! Concessions are a wonderful addition to our baseball program and the town, but they also take a great deal of commitment to run in a successful manner. Working the Concessions is an easy way to show your children that it takes a ‘team’ to run the baseball program, and usually ends up being one of parents favorite activities to socialize with other parents beyond the field.
There is no end to the help we need. Don’t forget how difficult it is for parents to get their child to practice or to a game – offer to carpool. Most teams want to celebrate their hard work and at the end of the season will find a time to hold a Year End party. Offer to host it, offer to bring food or drink. Remember no effort is too small.
Our baseball program is only as good as our volunteers. The more you put into your child’s program, the more your child will get out of it. Never opt out from volunteering fearing you won’t have enough time – the more hands, the better. We will find a way for you to contribute what you are comfortable with. Lifelong friendships are often formed when you contribute to our baseball program.
