As we ramp up our plans for the spring season, we are requesting any interested volunteers please provide the board with your information via https://bit.ly/myb-2023-manager-coach-reg
Based on last year's numbers, we expect we will need a minimum of 20-25 volunteers per age group to serve as a manager, coach, or team parent. Last year we had a total of 302 players in our spring program, and we cannot run our programs without your support. However, please know, we may have to limit registration numbers if we do not receive sufficient volunteers.
I am providing the general expectations for each position below, and we are happy to provide further information if needed.
For all leagues, we have a dedicated group of board members and league Vice Presidents, that will help guide the process, provide communication, and work with our volunteers to ensure the league runs smoothly. This includes arranging practice and game schedules, rostering teams, and facilitating all needed equipment, uniforms, and other gear. Volunteers for any position should be able to reasonably attend all scheduled practices and games to ensure continuity, but we recognize there may be times when this isn't possible, so we would ask for upfront communication with all team members and league VP if needed.
Additionally, we have practice plans that are available at https://www.myabaseball.com/coaches-corner for anyone interested (coaches, families, anyone is welcome to access and review them).
Managers: Typically in charge of providing team communication to families and the league VP (may be done in conjunction with a team parent). Will coordinate, in conjunction with coaches, practice plans and game preparation.
Coaches: Serve as a back-up to the manager if/when needed, help facilitate practices and games.
Team Parent: Provide assistance to the team, can help in coordinating team events/snacks (if desired) and provide support for league fundraiser.
As a note, all volunteers go through a mandatory background check and abuse prevention training program. Upon receipt of your submission, you will be contacted by a board member to ensure all documentation is available and on-file, and as of 2019, the MYA Board covers all costs associated with this training.
If you have any general questions, including anyone interested in taking on a larger role in shaping the program as a board member, please reach out to info@myabaseball.com, and again, the volunteer registration link can be found here: https://bit.ly/myb-2023-manager-coach-reg
Our spring registration will opening in the next 7-10 days, so please look for a separate announcement then.
